It in general corresponds to the prepp. in loco—á, or in locum— til, whilst ór answers more to í; but it also frequently corresponds to yfir, um or í. It ranges between ór and frá, generally denoting the idea from the surface of, while ór means from the inner part, and frá from the outer part or border. The wind blows af landi, but a ship sets sail frá landi; frá landi also means a distance from: af hendi, of a glove, ring; ór hendi, of whatever has been kept in the hand (correl. to á hendi and í hendi). п.; обычно сопровождается определениями: как, когда, куда, каким образом): to go in pairs (arm-in-arm) — ходить парами (под руку); to go shopping — ходить за покупками; to go to the theatre (to the cinema, to concerts) — ходить в театр (в кино, на концерты); to go there right now — пойти туда сейчас же; to go by train — ездить поездом; to go by boat — плыть пароходом; to go by air — лететь самолетом; to go out to work — ходить на работу/ ходить на службу; to go swimming (skiing) — ходить плавать/купаться (ходить на лыжах) In summer he goes for a swim in all sorts of weather. On Saturday we usually go shopping. We don't often go to museums. My father liked to go into the mountains and he often took us kids with him. This watch doesn't go. The bus goes there twice a day. Cars can't go along such roads. The train went at full speed. Buses don't go along these streets. — По этим улицам автобусы не ходят/не ездят.2. to walk — ходить, гулять, прогуливаться, ходить пешком, прохаживаться, переступать ногами ( двигаться вперед с обычной скоростью): Lena and Ann always walk to school together. Shall we walk or take a taxi? Ben learned to walk at ten months. On the final day we walked over twenty miles. We walked around the market for a while, before going to the beach. I keep seeing these two strange men walking around, I'm sure they are up to something.
(кому, с кого)разг.1) ( кому) (нипочём, безразлично, никак не действует на кого-либо, не производит никакого впечатления на кого-либо) it's all one (all the same) to him; he is impervious to everything; cf. < it's> like water off a duck's back; he doesn't care two straws about anything; he gets away scot free; it's nothing to him- Другие миллионы крадут, и всё им как с гуся вода, а ворона украдёт копейку - ей за это смерть. (М. Салтыков-Щедрин, Ворон-челобитчик) — 'Others steal millions and get away scot free, but if a crow steals a kopeck, it's death.'
(А. Толстой, Хождение по мукам) — Katya stumbled more and more frequently, and could not always suppress a sigh. But Mishka was impervious to everything - it seemed as if he could have marched on for thousands of miles, his rifle at his back.
2) ( с кого) (легко, быстро, бесследно исчезает, забывается кем-либо) < it's> like water off a duck's back; cares sit lightly upon him (her); it disappears without < leaving> a traceОн позволял себе от времени до времени гульнуть, потешиться денёк-другой, завернув куда-нибудь в сторонку, но хмель и буйство скоро слетали с него, как с гуся вода, и с новой бодростию являлся он к своему делу. (С. Аксаков, Семейная хроника) — From time to time... he would break out, and spend a couple of riotous days in some little town; but he could throw off the effects of his drunkenness as easily as a goose shakes water off her feathers, and after such an interlude would only return with renewed zest to his interrupted labours.
(М. Салтыков-Щедрин, Господа Головлёвы) — 'What trouble I had to get him taken into Civil Service - and it's all like water off a duck's back!'
(Г. Николаева, Жатва) — Yefrosinya possessed a peculiar trait of character - all the world's cares sat lightly upon her.
